Yes, it is. Everyone can contribute to improving the state of our oceans without giving up the fish dishes we love. It is responsible buying that makes the difference. Unfortunately, choosing sustainable seafood products is a challenge for many consumers. It’s not easy to know which of the fish and seafood products for sale are sustainable in our countries, compared to more developed areas.

WWF's online seafood guide (www.kojuribukupiti.org) offers a simple and easy-to-use solution for choosing sustainable fish dishes. Optimized for mobile devices, the guide is a practical tool for buying any kind of seafood in retail stores or at fish markets. The guide provides recommendations using a simple traffic light system for over 60 different types of seafood products and helps consumers to quickly and responsibly decide which fish to buy. The guide also includes fish recipes from renowned European chefs, as well as the stories about what lies beyond your plate when you choose the fish you put on it.

In order to have a sustainable feast this Christmas Eve, WWF recommends choosing organic seafood products. Also, the MSC and ASC labels designate seafood products that are caught sustainably or farmed responsibly. For those seafood products that don’t have any special labels, remember to consult WWF’s online seafood guide.
