WWF is looking for a motivated, energetic, competent manager to lead its multi-country organization in the Adria (Western Balkans) region. WWF Adria is currently part of WWF Mediterranean and its geographic scope includes Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, FYR Macedonia, Kosovo[*], Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia. Its mandate is to ensure that the globally important Mediterranean marine, terrestrial, freshwater and Danube ecoregions are conserved across the eight countries of the Adria region, for the benefit of present and future generations. In the next three years it is planned that WWF Adria will become a self-standing WWF network organization.
Location/Contract Details:The Director of WWF Adria office reports to the Director of WWF Mediterranean and will be based in the WWF Adria office premises in Zagreb, Croatia.
Full employment contract issued by WWF Adria Association, Zagreb, under Croatian labor law; compensation in line with similar positions in the Adria region.
Main responsibilities:The Director of WWF Adria builds and leads a dynamic team and develops a strong organization delivering significant conservation results across the Adria region. S/he leads the development and implementation of WWF strategy for the Adria region, in the context of WWF Mediterranean and Danube network strategies and of the WWF Network Development strategy; builds and manages WWF structure and operations across the eight Adria countries ensuring performance and accountability according to WWF standards; develops and implements the Adria fundraising strategy; represents WWF and builds partnerships across the Adria region.
What you need:The ideal candidate has a proven track-record of successfully building and managing organizations, including administration and human resources management, with a demonstrated success in managing multi-cultural teams and with excellent people management skills and a passion for building and enabling teams to deliver strategic goals. S/he has proven experience in fundraising from a wide range of donors. Candidates should have good knowledge and experience of the social, political and economic context of the Adria region and a good understanding of environmental conservation and sustainable development. Excellent communication and diplomatic skills and fluency in local languages and fluency in spoken and written English are required. Candidates should demonstrate a high moral stature and adherence to WWF values: Knowledgeable, Optimistic, Determined and Engaging.
